1/20/13 Operation Potcake meets the Bahamian Prime Minister

On the morning of the 1/18/3 the Minister of Agriculture and the Secretary of Agriculture visited our clinic. Local media was present and interviewd the Minister, Emma, Kim and the local veterinarians. Everyone was very impressed with the Fox Hill Clinic and the Minister listened while Emma explained the process in the clinic and how we are able to sterilize so many animals safely. She explained the importance of such campaigns, the system for collecting census data on the dogs and the system that will analyize the data post campaign. This data will provide the Bahamas will critical key information on the distribution of diseases, injuries and overall general health of the dogs. It will also provide a clear picture of where the next campaigns should focus as we are recording addresses and cross streets so we can plot the information into google maps and share very clearly the results and impact of this campaign. The Minister congratulated us on our work and stated that he was very impressed that all these people flew here to work this hard on their vacation time.

In the evening the Bahamian Government held a reception for OP. The Prime Minister thanked everyone for their dedication and commitment to creating a safer and healthier island and then announced that OP will now be an annual event. He declared that it has been such a success that he would like OP to reach all the islands in the archipelago. Sterilization is the solution for the over population of dogs and has now been officially endorsed by the Bahamas Government.Last night government held a reception for OP.
