The Big Island of Hawaii is GREAT!
I was helping registration and chatting to the community and was overwhelmed by the love and kindness that was being expressed by everyone. I was thanking them for bringing us their cats – in the pouring rain – and they were stopping me mid-sentence and thanking us for being here to help. People were telling me about the 20, 30, 50 cats that they were feeding and it all started because they fed one a while back. That one cat had shown them how much the Big Island needs these services to be affordable and accessible. People are desperate to get their community cats fixed.
We have spayed and neutered an incredible 417 cats in just 3 days. Yesterday, we had to order more medical supplies due to the huge response from the community and great success of the AB trapping team!
This clinic in Hilo really is an epicenter of compassion and love.
The AB team and local volunteers are working 16 plus hour days to take care of everyone’s cats. The volunteers who flew in are using their vacation time and have paid their own way here. The local volunteers have taken time off work and their busy lives to work alongside us as a solid team. Everyone has made huge sacrifices in their own lives to make this happen.
As we go into day 4 and restock our supplies, please help us by sharing our progress through social media, or make a donation to help support this critical life-saving event. Thank you, Emma.
