9/20/17 Kauai - The Animal Balance is currently on Kauai, working with Kauai Humane Society on a 6-day MASH campaign to offer free sterilization surgeries to cats and dogs on the island. The AB team, which includes 13 volunteer veterinarians and technicians, arrived on the island on Saturday and got right to work. There was a clinic setup and orientation at Kauai Humane Society on Sunday, and surgery began on Monday morning. By the end of the day on Tuesday, 219 animals had been sterilized and microchipped for free by this amazing team. The turnout and support from local volunteers has been amazing! Special thanks to KHS for organizing and scheduling this dedicated group to help out. None of this would be possible without their hard work and support. We are honored to be able to bring community based sterilization solutions to the island and hope to support this work as it continues in the future. Special thanks to Alley Cat Allies for funding all of the cat surgeries and supplying traps for use by the community to help humanely control Kauai's cat population.  Kauai Humane obtained funding to cover the dog surgeries. One of the best parts of each and every campaign that we do is watching a team of strangers meet for the first time, work together and become part of the greater Animal Balance family. This group is a shining example of that and we could not be prouder of them and the work that they are doing. These Animal Warriors are truly saving lives and making a difference for all animals on the island. Mahalo!
