The Animal Balance team has been working tirelessly, along with our partners on island, to coordinate a number of life-saving, high-volume spay/neuter campaigns for 2018. We are thrilled to be able to confirm that we will be returning to Kauai, Hilo and the Galapagos Islands of San Cristobal and Isabela in the first half of this year.
Our Kauai campaign will run from March 13 – March 18. We will once again be partnering with Kauai Humane Society to do both a dog and cat campaign, with a focus on trying to sterilize as many community cats from the Lihue area as possible.
From Kauai, we will fly directly to the Big Island where, in partnership with our friends at Hui Pono Holoholona and with the support of Alley Cat Allies, we will continue to target community cats in and around the area of Hilo.
Both of our Hawaii campaigns are following up massive efforts that we made last summer to begin targeting community cats on those islands, and a continuation of a larger scale plan that began with a partnership between Animal Balance and the Maui Humane Society in 2015. Since the efforts began, both Maui and Molokai have been working towards developing sustainable, high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter programs to humanely address community cat populations.
In May our team will make a return to the Galapagos, which now feels like a second home for Animal Balance. We will continue to work alongside our friends at Agencia de Regulación y Control de la Bioseguridad para Galápagos (ABG) to sterilize and vaccinate animals on two islands. This is the continuation of work that began more than a decade ago and has brought about amazing social change for animals in the region.
There are more campaigns in the pipeline for 2018. We will be announcing them as they are confirmed. Those interested in volunteer opportunities need to register as an AB Member ($3 monthly donation or annual donation of $25) to receive recruitment information. Anyone interested in donating to support our continued efforts to provide humane population management solutions to these areas and ignite social change by building sustainable programs may do so via Paypal or Aplos on our website http://animalbalance.net/donate/.
We are so grateful to all of our supporters who make this critical work possible through their generosity of time, money and spirit. We are looking forward to making 2018 a huge year for Animal Balance and for the animals themselves as we travel around the world to save lives!
