Trapping begins for Operation Cunucu

The fabulous AB Trapping Team, Doug, Consie and Billie, are hard at work setting traps in the dump. It’s a smelly job, but worth it because Trap Neuter Return works!
For Operation Cunucu in Aruba, we are targeting some of the estimated 150 dogs living at the local dump. By targeting this specific zone, sterilizing, vaccinating and treating the dogs that we trap, and releasing them into the same area, we can effectively reduce the population. If we can reach 70% of the dogs, the numbers will decrease naturally. In the past, population control has been attempted by poisoning the dogs. Using this method results in the remaining intact dogs moving into the area, reproducing and bringing the population back up in a short time. TNR is the most humane and efficient way to handle these populations.
