Every night for the past week the TIP Trapping team has been strategically targeting specific areas of Molokai, talking to the community, letting them know that they will be trapping that night and then returning to set the traps after dark.
They then systematically bait and trap the cats and start ferrying them up to the Humane Society in trucks. They do this until about 3 am! They set the cats up at the Humane Society so that when the Medical Team arrives at 7 am, they can get started with surgery. The trappers are out at night most of the night doing incredible work! The Molokai HS staff are often part of both teams and we just don’t know when or if they sleep at all…..thank goodness the Molokai coffee is the best!
Our 2 teams share a house, we leave notes for one another, food for one another and beds as we rotate the day and night shifts. This is hard core and not easy to do so please join me in thanking everyone for their enormous efforts and huge hearts to help ALL species who live on Molokai.
We will sleep next week
